Love for Tea

I’ve always been a tea drinker, but it has only been the last year or so that I’ve begun to branch out in my tastes. I had always used a small tea infuser with any loose teas that I got, but the taste was usually mediocre. So, last Christmas I got a lovely cast iron teapot and an assortment of loose leaf teas from Teavana. It worked marvelously for a week or so, until the pot began to rust with the poorly made basket. After a vicious argument with the overworked retail manager, I received a refund and promptly got a nice glass pot from Sur La Table with equally loved Bodum insulated glass cups.

Wow! I was not prepared for the depth of taste that a properly brewed pot of tea can deliver! After consuming much of my Teavana assortment, I went in search of a good online source for tea. I found a particularly good site, Adagio.com. I purchased an assortment of different samplers, namely some Rooibos, Oolong, and White teas, as well as some flavored ones that sounded appealing. Not only does the site have great prices and excellent information, they even allow you to make your own blends and offer a cute little timer to make sure your brewing time is right.

Now, I make having tea a regular part of my relaxation rituals. Like today; I had several fun–but tiring–sessions and looked forward to enjoying a steaming cup as I reviewed my work for the day. What was in the pot today? A nice, light Jasmine and Oolong blend. “Ti Kuan Yin,” I believe. Delicious.

Now, many of you often ask for unique gift ideas or things you can send to show a little Goddess appreciation that won’t break the bank. Here’s some ideas, based on my new favorite tea site:

IngenuiTea Pot ~ A single-serve teapot set that would be nice for down time at the studio.

Tea of the month membership ~ Ohhh… (try herbal or flavored)

Flavors I’d like to try:

Rooibos Vanilla Chai

Pomegranate

Silver Needle

Fruit Medley

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m getting back to my very inviting cup…
